Planning For A Party?
Whether you are having your kid's birthday party, aqiqah, anniversary or house warming party, these tips perhaps will help you to plan for your own event:
- Set a date and time
- not too soon if you are not sure about your guests' attendance yet
- plan at least a month ahead for lesser stress
- if you don't plan much ahead, we advise you to choose Sunday instead of Saturday because usually most people are already tied up with other important commitments on the first day of their weekends, and they wind down on Sunday. - Deciding for the venue
- at home or at any banquet hall or even at the usual cafe you always hang out with your friends and family...
- for a fresh feeling, you can have an outdoor / garden party at some public park that offers venue hire. Taman Tasik Titiwangsa, Taman Botanik Putrajaya, Taman Metropolitan or Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) offers natural escapism in the city. Imagine having a serene evening / afternoon under shady giant tree and the quiet lake, with the view of KLCC skyline as your event picture background...
- for outdoor seating, you may need to rent the furniture, fixtures and fittings such as canopy, tables and chairs. If you are not familiar with any suppliers, you can always ask us for the arrangement of the furnitures and canopy.
- if you have ample space for your guests, why not hold it at your own home. more appropriate should it be an intimate event, which does not involve a lot of people. By holding it home, you can choose to prepare the food yourself should you are good with food preparation and have an ample time to prepare yourself. - Food & Beverages
- Malaysia is known for its cultural diversity, thus there are a plenty of menu to choose from, depending on the time your function starts, if you are holding it in the afternoon, please prepare heavier food for your guests like a lunch buffet. If it is a high tea event, menu can be less heavy but please bear in mind, lighter food means more consumption. So prepare enough food for your guests. Get enough people to help you, whether family members, friends or even hired freelancers. Do not forget the serving plates, cutleries and serviette for eating, as well as the buffet counter and tossing section.
- hire a caterer if you are not a kitchen expert and do not have any helper around. You will be busy attending and chit-chatting with your guests rather than occupying yourself with small tasks like topping up food for serving, getting some ice cubes from a nearby store etc. Since it is your party, you want to be part of the those who can sit and enjoy this precious moment - Decoration aspects
- balloons are the easiest and cheapest option to make up your party. You can choose to order from any local balloon store. An inflated latex helium balloon 10" usually cost around RM3.50 to RM4.00 per piece. The balloon store usually requires for a minimum order quantity to do delivery, with some transport and handling charges incurred.
- flowers are soothing to the eyes, and the cost is not cheap either. Market price for fresh flower arrangement starts from RM100 per bouquet, depending on the bouquet size, type and grade of flowers used.
- you can be creative by creating your own centrepiece based on your theme, look and feel of your event. extend your imagination and create an ambiance that looks significant and related to your party theme.
- other decorative elements - lighting, ceiling streamers, fabric swags, paper lanterns or even backdrop plane to banners, just make sure the elements and props used blends in harmony with your theme.
- if you are holding your party at home, be prepared to move around your furnitures to accommodate a bigger number of people for your living hall, garden or porch area. Have extra buffet counter, tables and chairs around for to ensure your guests feel comfortable. - Deciding for a theme
- it can be anything, just bear in mind that if you can think of a theme that can blend in with the existing ambiance of your event space, that would be an added advantage.
- the easier and fastest way to decide for a simple theme is by having a color scheme for your venue elements. Be it the balloon decoration, furniture covers, flower arrangements etc. - Entertainment and Activities
- trust us as an a birthday party expert, you need some activities for your party or gathering to create a warmer ambiance. Considering that it is a social event, therefore you don't want your guests to feel bored when you can at least spend around 5-10 minutes on one-to-one communication basis, otherwise your guests will be either looking at their phones or get hooked up with the food, busy attending to their own kids tantrum while you will be busier at your own phase.
- place some entertainment for your guests to enjoy, like background music or nice movie or an award show programme, or karaoke session. If you can arrange for a person to run some party games, it will be better as long as everybody can engage. Should you have extra penny, hire our professional party entertainer to run your 2 hours event.
